What is the difference between a stoop and a porch?
I was talking to this guy, and he said his porch was really more of a stoop. What is the difference?
And while I'm at it, what is the difference between a porch, a deck, a patio, a lanai, a veranda...
Also, not to sound racist, but why does it seem that only black people ever talk about a stoop anyway?
Answer: Technically, a stoop is just a landing at the exit of a doorway. They're usually just about 3' by 5', concrete pads that meet the finished floor elevation.
A porch is a larger version, usually capable of being occupied.
