What is the difference between a deck and a porch?
My husband and I are having a disagreement! Help us fix it!
What is the difference between a porch and a deck? Can both be on a house, or are decks only for ships? Thanks!
Answer:
a porch is at the entry doors to a home.... it's covered so you don't have to stand there in the rain fiddling with your keys to get inside....some porches have no roof, are still at the door and I'll never understand why.....call them stoops....
decks are not roofed over unless there's a pergola on the deck, too...., are usually more for fun and family gathering than just an entrance to the house.... keep the BBQ there, lounge chairs, hot tub, etc....
