What is an inexpensive way to replace my front porch columns?
We have a small, one-story home with a smaller front porch. We're hoping to put our house on the market in a few months, but I want to replace our porch columns. There are two iron columns that are not even supporting anything because the bottoms have detached from their bases. We could remove them, but I'd like new ones to help with curb appeal. The porch is centered and covered, but all sides are open. The home has vinyl siding and cement flooring for the porch. We're pressed for cash...any suggestions?
Answer: If they are just plain square columns, or square would look fine for you, you can replace them with a wood 6x6 . They are fairly cheap at Lowe's and Home Depot. That is supporting my front porch. Just paint to protect it.
